We are perfectionist carpenters when it comes to installing your decking. Ending with noticeable imperfections such as raised screw heads and uneven gaps is common when low skilled tradesmen are hired for the job. When you hire us for the job, you are guaranteed quality every time.
We look forward to working with you on your next home renovation project!

We can suppliy and install timber decking based on your budget and preferences. Customers love wooden timber decks because it give your space a natural rustic look.
Choose from a wide variety of treated softwood or hardwood timber. But the choice of wood has a significant impact on the finish. That is why we always have a deck builder on standby to guide you.
All softwood timbers we use are pre-treated, so you’ll have a functional deck. You can choose either contemporary styles or trendy grooved pattern. These decks have Q-slips that accept slip-resistant inserts.
Prominent styles include:
- York style decking
- Canterbury style decking
- Winchester style decking
- Cambridge style decking
We said we guarantee quality. Here is proof:
Edinburgh Decking Company offers a 15-year warranty against fungal decay and wood-boring insect attack.
Softwood decking is the least expensive choice for a decking, and can last a life time with the correct treatment.
Edinburgh Decking Company specialises in the most beautiful hardwoods that are sustainably sourced. As a result, we offer a superb ecological solution.

What is Involved in Decking Maintenance?
- Most decking materials don’t need a lot of maintaining, however it’s important to keep on top of them every few months
- Once per year we recommend a thorough wash of your decking using a stiff brush or else scrubbing them could be an option
- All screws, nuts and bolts should be checked and maintained as well, ensuring none are loose as a safety precaution
- If decking is aged, and/ or has been neglected, then a pressure washer may be required to properly clean the wood surface. However please be aware too high a pressure could damage the wood, so a lower pressure may be needed.
How Long Does it Take to Build a Decking?
The average decking build will take 1 to 2 days depending on the size and scale of the job, materials involved and how many people working on it. A small garden around 15 meters squared may only take 2 days, but for a job which requires removal of existing decking and plants etc, excavation, could take up to 4 days or more.
Can you Put New Decking Over Old Decking?
No; this is not a recommended practice in deck building. In many replacement jobs, joists end up being repaired, replaced, or capped. This is due to the common discovery of decay underneath the decking area, usually where the fastener penetrated the joist
If new wood is installed on top of other decking, there will be little drying potential beneath the new decking and more rapid deterioration of both decks can be expected.
We always recommend speaking to a decking specialist for advice in this type of situation!
Is decking a good idea for your garden?
Decking is a splendid way to extend your building’s living space. Typically, it offers an extra social space ideal for children playing, entertaining, dining, or relaxing. Simply put, it’s one of the most attractive additions that can be made to a home and can create an ideal outdoor entertainment space when done right.
What Type of Decking is Best?
Softwoods such as pine and spruce will be the more cost effective option, but must be properly maintained with a wood preservative — as should any cuts in the wood. Cedar is an ideal softwood choice, being more weather-resistant. Hardwoods have seen a growth in their popularity recently, with species such as oak and teak giving a stylish and modern look and feel, while also offering plenty of durability — which is essential for a good looking and safe decking.
Is decking cheaper than paving?
The overall investment of decking material is lower than that of paving slabs. Moreover, the construction labour cost of decking is lower than paving. However, the maintenance cost of pavers is less than decking, and pavers require much lower levels of maintenance.
